presentsSewing Slippers

Those of you who were here last year, remember the slipper fiasco, using Foot Prints #702 Pattern? I made slippers for everyone on my list and then some last, year. I know as the north east winter approaches, everyone in my house is hinting for a new pair this year.
By making your own you can customize each and every pair. My patriotic step Dad got his with a flag print on the outer fabric and the polar fleece lining, my 19 year old got her favorite Elmo centered on the toe section of both feet. I could go on and on but, I think you get the picture. I managed to use up a great amount of my scrap stash.
As of 12/11/04 a source for this pattern is Sew Thankful.

But there are a vast number of other slipper patterns on the net. For our first stop, Tom's Slipper Pattern, Tom gives you a free pattern and all the directions to make a boot style slipper. Although I must admit, I haven't tried this pattern, I do know that Tom has vast sewing experience and I would trust in his pattern and directions.
Other spots to help you find the pattern you are looking for! Perfect Notion has slipper patterns listed with hat patterns atPatterns - Hats & Slippers. You'll find two different patterns listed here but unfortunately no pictures.

I have to say, I love using Polar Fleece for slippers. If you don't have Polar Fleece Pizzaz Books, be sure to read my Product Review.
If your only interested in making slippers for a baby, stop over at Sewbaby Patterns. They have a baby bootie pattern, for the babies on your list.

Wy'East Fabrics Catalog has both booties and Polar fleece Socks in their Green Pepper Patterns. Read More about the Polar Socks in Wy'East And Green Pepper Pattern Product Review. These are great for extra warmth in a pair of boots.

Nancy's Notions has another pattern online this year. It is listed as Bonza Booties Pattern on page 3 of their Holiday Gift Gallery.

For safety you'll want non slip soles. This non slip fabric also prevents the static electric build up that can be dangerous for your computer. If you are unable to purchase this fabric locally, I have found one online resources for this.
Welcome to Words Etc has Stay Put Fabric available for ordering with available at the bottom of the page.
Certain members of my family have been known to head out the door in their slippers. I won't tell you the details but one day hubby went to work in slippers instead of his steel toed work boots. The non slip fabric does not offer any water proof protection. And as you may have read in the Foot Prints #702 Pattern Product Review, the carpet padding really absorbs moisture. I have made a few pair now using, a flannel backed textured vinyl for soles. Please make sure it is textured or they are very slippery. This also allow static build up so be careful around your computer. It does help with the moisture and wet slippers though.
